Accounting & tax
You and your accountant, working the same records.
Month-end and tax season run on email threads and mystery spreadsheets. Practice OS gives the practice and its accounting firm one shared workspace - requests, close, estimates, filings, notices - where both sides see the same state.

What each side gets.
The practice side
- One list of what your firm needs from you, with due dates and status - upload into the request, not into an email
- Quarterly estimates with amounts, due dates and payment instructions, and a mark-paid you control
- Tax notices become tracked items with a plain-English summary and a response clock - not a scary letter in a drawer
- Answer your accountant's questions where the transaction lives, so the answer stays attached to the record
- Counterparties shows who can see your books and what they see; invite your firm, approve its request, or end access there
The firm side
- A client workspace per practice: documents, close, questions, tax desk - and a cross-client queue of what needs review
- Month-end close with preparer and reviewer sign-off; the period locks, and post-lock edits raise an alert with an audit trail
- Document requests with accept and return-with-reason, so "received" and "usable" stop being the same status
- Tax-savings opportunities computed from the client's books with citations - and nothing reaches the client until the firm approves it
- Map each client's QuickBooks accounts to one standard chart of accounts, then export a frozen snapshot of the mapping with a cover note
- Add a new client practice, or ask for access to one already on the platform - the practice's owner approves
Dual control is the product.
A close that one person can silently reopen is not a close. Steps carry a preparer and a reviewer; signatures void if the work changes after sign-off; locking a period is recorded, and unlocking one requires a reason that goes in the trail.
Inviting your accounting firm is free, at every tier, always - charging you to collaborate with your own accountant would tax the exact behavior this module exists for.
